Beechmont District Landcare Association has approx 20 active members and the key partners are the Scenic Rim Regional Council, Gold Coast City Council and SEQ Catchments. Beechmont is located west of Nerang on the Gold Coast Hinterland. Binna Burra, has a World Heritage listed rainforests of Lamington National Park. Beechmont was originally called The Beech Mountain because of the white beech trees on the plateau which was cleared in the early 1900's for dairying.

Beechmont Landcare is a not for profit, community organisation working to improve the environment of the Beechmont district through education and projects, in partnership with the Community, Regional Bodies, Government Agencies and Private Landholders.

The Beechmont District Landcare Association (BDLA) held its inaugural meeting in 1992. Since that time the BDLA has undertaken many projects to improve the environment of the plateau.

What does Landcare do?:

  • Beechmont Landcare has a number of bush care sites where it is maintaining and improving the natural values of the area. Active sites are Denham Scenic Reserve (Back Creek Gorge), Timbarra Drive Reserve, Graceleigh Park, Windabout Road Reserve, Neil Scott Park, Pivet control on Beechmont Road.
  • Beechmont Landcare provides information to the community via Information Nights, Field Days, Information Stand at the Markets and various publications.
  • Beechmont Landcare is monitoring the water quality at several locations in Back Creek.
  • Beechmont Landcare promotes the value of environmental sustainability through projects.
